WORSHIP AT PENUEL CHAPEL
In addition to being home to Rowtons’ Museum of the Paranormal and Spirituality, Penuel Chapel is still an active place of spiritual connection, devotion, and contemplative worship.
During your visit to the museum, you are welcome to sit on our historic pews and engage with the sacred space of Penuel Chapel. We welcome private worship, quiet prayer, meditation, and contemplation. We believe in open and independent spirituality, rooted in Spiritualist and Hermetic traditions, contemplation, exploration, and universal spiritual truths.
People of all faith backgrounds and traditions are welcome.

WEEKLY CONTEMPLATION & MEDITATION
Museum owner Laura Rowton leads a relaxed, spiritual gathering for contemplation and guided meditation every Saturday at 2pm.
Suggested donation £5.
All welcome. Come as you are.
Each week opens with a discussion of a sacred or spiritual theme, offering time to share reflections, insights, and personal experiences. We then move into a guided meditation designed to cultivate inner stillness, enhance self-awareness, and deepen your connection with the Divine. To conclude, time is held for shared silence, gratitude, gentle reflection, and the opportunity to offer prayers or request angelic intercession and/or healing within the sacred space of the chapel.
PENUEL CHAPEL: A PLACE WHERE ANGELS WALK
The historic Grade II listed Penuel Chapel has a long history as a sacred space. Founded by a Baptist Christian congregation at the end of the eighteenth century, it witnessed healing miracles and other supernatural phenomena under Reverend William Samuel Jones from 1897 to 1904.
Since being transformed into Rowtons’ Museum of the Paranormal and Spirituality in 2024, Penuel’s spiritual significance has continued and broadened, with the opening of its doors to people from a wide range of different religious, spiritual, and contemplative walks of life. Penuel regularly welcomes practitioners from both established and alternative spiritual traditions, including Christians of all denominations, Spiritualists, Wiccans, Druids, Buddhists, Celtic, Norse and Greco-Roman Pagans, spiritual universalists, and students of Hermetic and esoteric traditions, as well as those who identify as agnostic or non-religious but still engage in contemplative and devotional practises.
Visitors frequently experience the Divine within the chapel space, describing feelings of celestial serenity, as well as communications with angels and ‘great white light beings’ that are able to impart healing and profound spiritual insight.

QUIET HOUR OF CONTEMPLATION
In the Chapel, every Thursday & Friday at 10am.
During our quiet hours, you are welcome to enjoy the sacred atmosphere of Penuel Chapel in silence, for individual prayer, contemplation, meditation, or simple rest. There will be no music playing for this hour, with guests gently encouraged to respect and enjoy the powerful sanctity of silence by reducing their noise.
During this hour, we set aside speech and striving to enter the shared sanctuary of inward listening. There is nothing to achieve here — your presence is enough.
You are welcome to sit on the pews.
SHRINE of THE ALL
During your visit you are welcome to interact with our Shrine of the All, situated at the altar within Penuel Chapel. The All is the source of all Creation. It is Divinity — enduring, infinite, the origin and essence of everything. Above all, it is inherently unknowable, and transcends any and all attempts to attribute to it a name, purpose, description, or personality. Only The All itself can comprehend its own nature and being.
alchemical fire ceremonies
Our next ceremony is Michaelmas, Tuesday 29th September at 6pm.
From many paths, one flame.
Join us for an Alchemical Fire Ceremony in Penuel’s graveyard, where written prayers and offerings from the Shrine of the All will be released through fire in a communal ritual of transmutation.
Experience silence, procession, poetry, and flame as we gather together beneath the evening sky to reflect upon grief, hope, memory, renewal, and transformation.
