Visiting Rowtons’ Museum is easy! We are located in the town of Carmarthen, within easy access of a variety of car parks. Please enter through our main chapel entrance — our historic gates are visible from the main road.

directions & parking
🚶 Walking
The museum is easily accessible by foot, being a 10 to 15 minute walk from the centre of Carmarthen and its numerous long stay car parks.
🚘 by car
We are located on Priory Street (A484) at the turn into Penuel Street. Our historic cast-iron gates are viewable from the road. 1 Penuel Street, SA31 1NH will also bring you to us.
🚘 PARKING
There is no parking available onsite. Parking is available just a short, 2 minute walk from the museum, at Priory Street Car Park (council operated). After seeing the museum gates on your left, take the next turn on the right into Clos Y Deri. Parking is long stay and free after 6pm and on Sundays.
🚉 by train
Carmarthen Train Station is a 15 minute walk from the museum and offers regular trains to Cardiff, London and other major cities.
✈️ by PLANE
We are a 2 hour train ride from Cardiff International Airport. Other airport links include London Gatwick (5 hours by train) and Manchester International (6 hours by train).

Separate male and female toilet facilities are available on site.
There is no café at the museum. However, Carmarthen offers a wide variety of food and drink within walking distance.
accessibility
As our museum is located in a Grade II listed heritage building with narrow areas and steps throughout, some parts of the museum are unsuitable for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues. By definition, we are not an accessible building. This said, many downstairs rooms and exhibits can be accessed. We also have seating available throughout the museum, on all levels, as well as step-free toilet facilities. Please contact us if you require further information, or read our FAQs for more.
DOG POLICY
The museum does not allow dogs, accept for guide or assistance dogs.
Museum staff reserve the right to request documentary evidence of an assistance dog’s training and/or the organisation that trained them, for example to see your dog’s ID book or card, as issued by a training organisation under the membership of Assistance Dogs (UK).
