GHOST STORIES & PARANORMAL CAPTURES

Visitors to Rowtons’ Museum frequently report paranormal experiences, whether that be during a day visit or on one of the museum’s paranormal investigations. Below are a small selection of some of the best captures and stories from the museum.

THE SHADOW MAN PHOTO

This photograph was taken in Penuel Chapel by psychic medium and paranormal investigator Richard Oliver. Captured during an investigation hosted at Rowtons’ Museum on 8th March 2025, it shows a guest seated on a pew upstairs on the gallery of the chapel. Standing behind, close to the wall, is a mysterious shadowy figure.

There are three figures in this photo. On the left, behind the post, is a guest walking across the gallery. On the far right, seated on a top-level pew, is another guest. Slightly to the left of them, seemingly standing against the chapel wall, is a dark shadow figure. This is not a guest, with the anomaly realised by Richard Oliver in real-time during the investigation. We were thus able to confirm that there were only supposed to be two people in the photo. **(Photo kindly supplied by Richard Oliver.)**

GHOSTTUBE SLS IN THE SÉANCE PARLOUR

Over the course of several days in July 2025, several daytime visitors to the museum reported sensing or seeing a figure seated in one of the chairs at the main table in the séance parlour. Fascinatingly, some visitors were able to use GhostTube SLS to map a figure seated in the chair.

After repeated testimonies, Laura Rowton went up to the séance parlour alone to see if she could ask any spirits in the room to replicate the phenomenon. Intriguingly, an SLS figure mapped, on command, on the same chair.

CAPTURES SHARED BY GUESTS

On 10th July 2025, two visitors felt as though someone was sat at the table. When they used GhostTube SLS, a figure eventually mapped. According to their testimony, it responded to their interactions, which included the figure turning as they moved closer to the table. At one point, the figure even seemed to place a hand on the Ouija board on the table.

Two days later, another guest reported something similar, with a figure once again SLS mapped in the same chair.

SLS CAPTURED BY LAURA ROWTON

As similar testimonies of a spirit seated in one of the chairs continued to be shared, Laura Rowton sought to replicate the phenomenon on 20th July 2025. The video below was filmed using GhostTube SLS. Alone in the séance parlour, Laura asked any spirits present to make themselves known via SLS. Not only did a figure map on command, it appeared in the very same chair that had been the focus of the previous reports. When Laura thanked the spirits and said goodbye, the figure even appeared to move, as if waving goodbye.

EMF & CAT BALL ACTIVITY IN THE LAB TERRIFIES VISITORS

This CCTV capture from 3rd July 2025 shows the moment two visitors experienced EMF meter and LED cat ball anomalous triggers in the museum’s Paranormal Laboratory. The young man had been sat at the desk for some time, engaging in a remote viewing experiment, when they realised there were EMF spikes going on in the active object observation cases. Once their attention was on the objects, an LED cat ball triggered, resulting in a sharp exit from the room! (Note: the repetition on the EVP recordings is part of the tape, and is not anomalous.)
