Visitors to Rowtons’ Museum frequently report paranormal experiences, whether that be during a day visit or on one of the museum’s paranormal investigations. Below are a small selection of some of the best captures and stories from the museum.

SHELF FALLS OFF THE WALL IN THE PARANORMAL LABORATORY
These two incredible piece of footage were captured on CCTV at Rowtons’ Museum on 25th September 2025. They show the dramatic moment when a shelf mysteriously fell off the wall in the museum’s Paranormal Laboratory as co-owner Laura Rowton spoke with two of the museum’s annual members. The corner shelf was secured via three screws. This is the only time since the museum opened in October 2024 that the shelf has fallen off the wall. Given the trio were discussing haunted objects at the time, was this a sign from the other side?
ORBS OF LIGHT DESCEND ON TABLE DURING SÉANCE
During séances in the museum’s Victorian séance parlour, spirits are invited to gather around the main table. On this occassion, during a public paranormal investigation hosted at Rowtons’ Museum on 19th April 2025, CCTV captured the moment when a large number of light anomalies began moving around the room, with several descending, with seeming purpose, towards the gathering around the table.
LIGHT ANOMALY AND MICROPHONE POP CAUGHT ON CAMERA AS PENUEL CHAPEL’S ORGAN IS PLAYED
This glorious video was filmed on 5th March 2026 during a chance encounter with a day visitor to the museum who restores and tunes historic organs, and kindly offered to inspect (and play!) Penuel’s. It was not until afterwards, when the video was shared on social media, that two light anomalies were spotted. First appearing at twenty seconds into the video, a bright light appears to rush towards the altar, possibly into the pews, from the doorway area. At the same time, the phone’s microphone pops, as if disturbed by some sort of change in the environment. A second appears shortly afterwards, being brighter than the first. Asides from Laura (filming) and Erik and the visitor (up at the organ), there was no one else in the museum at the time.
