Visitors to Rowtons’ Museum frequently report paranormal experiences, whether that be during a day visit or on one of the museum’s paranormal investigations. Below are a small selection of some of the best captures and stories from the museum.

LIGHT MANIFESTS ABOVE INVESTIGATOR’S HEAD
This incredible piece of footage was captured on CCTV during a private paranormal investigation of Rowtons’ Museum on 24th January 2026. The gentleman featured in the video had been sat up on the chapel’s gallery conducting a quiet vigil. The Rowtons were in the museum’s office at the time. When Laura checked the cameras to see how the investigators were getting on, she noticed a strange light when the gentleman stood up. On closer inspection, the light first manifest as a ball or pinprick above the man’s head, before shooting down towards the altar.
SPECTRAL MAN CAUGHT ON CAMERA IN FRONT OF MUSEUM OWNER LAURA ROWTON
This incredible photograph was taken by an annual member during the museum’s first member-only paranormal investigation on 7th February 2026. It shows Laura Rowton standing up on the gallery of Penuel Chapel with what appears to be a spectral man standing in front of her, illuminated by the green light of a nearby EMF meter. The photo was taken in night mode. At this point in the investigation, several of the group remarked that they could see a figure close to Laura, either sitting behind her or moving about the pews in the darkness. When photos were taken and reviewed afterwards, this strange image was captured. It shows the moment when Laura stood up to address whatever spirit may have been around her. Oddly, the figure appears to be a man with facial hair wearing a jacket.
PENUEL’S GHOSTLY CONGREGATION CAUGHT ON CAMERA
This bizarre capture is another photograph taken during Rowtons’ Museum first member-only investigation on 7th February 2026. Whilst the group was experimenting with playing different frequencies in Penuel Chapel in an attempt to heighten phenomena, museum member Gayle was taking photographs using night mode. When the photos were reviewed, this image stood out. It appears to show two figures. There was no one in the part of the chapel being photographed. What is especially intriguing is that this was taken as part of a series of three photographs, with the photographs either side of this being nothing but black images. Can you see the lady in Victorian dress on the left? And the facial features of the elderly figure on the right?
ghost hand touches investigator’s face
Yet another fantastic photograph captured by a museum member on 7th February 2026. In this image, museum member Kath is sensory deprived, wearing a blindfold and headphones whilst performing an Estes Method session. Several photographs were taken of her, with two seemingly revealing a spectral hand touching the side of her face. It is unclear why the hand appears red, with the green light in the photo being produced by a nearby EMF meter.
STRANGE FIGURE PHOTOGRAPHED IN THE PEW NEXT TO LAURA ROWTON
And here, again, is another incredible photograph taken during the museum’s first member-only investigation on 7th February 2026. Omce again in Penuel Chapel, it shows Laura Rowton sat upstairs on the gallery. As other investigators were describing seeing figures moving around her in the dim light, photographs were taken. This one reveals what appears to be a child or other small figure sat to the side of Laura. There was no one else with her at the time. (Scroll for a zoomed in version of the strange capture.)
