Visitors to Rowtons’ Museum frequently report paranormal experiences, whether that be during a day visit or on one of the museum’s paranormal investigations. Below are a small selection of some of the best captures and stories from the museum.

SPECTRAL MAN PHOTOGRAPHED DURING INVESTIGATION

This photograph was taken by museum member Gwen Thomas during a paranormal investigation hosted at the museum on Saturday 27th December 2025. She and other guests were up on the gallery of the chapel during our opening vigil. Despite there being no one in frame at the time of taking the photo, Gwen appears to have captured a spectral figure close to the dragon artefacts. Strangely, what looks like a luminous man, appears to be in front of the cabinet, suggesting the figure is more than a light refraction on the glass.

LED CAT BALLS TRIGGER NEXT TO WORLD WAR ONE TRENCH ART

Just before museum opening on 7th December 2025, museum owner Laura Rowton noticed that an LED cat ball in the Paranormal Laboratory was triggering. Upon further investigation, it seemed to be turning on in relation to a piece of World War One trench art on display in the museum’s observation cabinets.

THERMAL CAMERA CAPTURES GHOST HAND DURING SÉANCE

During a séance hosted at Rowtons’ Museum on Sunday 7th December 2025, participants, which included museum members and Erik Rowton, felt as though an extra, non-living hand was touching the glass during a spirit board session. When museum member Stuart Warner used a thermal camera in an attempt to detect the anomaly, all were surprised to see the additional hand, with finger extended towards the glass. What is extra intriguing, is how one of the participants had a very cold hand (first image, extreme top right), suggesting that, although cold, the ghostly hand was still surprisingly warm for a discarnate prescence! Several images were taken in an attempt to debunk, with the hand visible, and moving, throughout.

MAGNETIC & RADITATION ANOMALIES AT THE MUSEUM

Below is a graph of data collected and collated by Andy Guy and his team during their private investigation of Rowtons’ Museum of the Paranormal and Spirituality, on Saturday 8th November 2025. Several times during the evening, there were anomalous spikes for both magnetic and radiation readings, sometimes at the same moment (see green circles on graph). In real time, those investigating, which included museum owners Laura and Erik Rowton, noticed spikes occur in response to direct questions, and also whilst using a spirit board upstairs in the séance parlour.
