Visitors to Rowtons’ Museum frequently report paranormal experiences, whether that be during a day visit or on one of the museum’s paranormal investigations. Below are a small selection of some of the best captures and stories from the museum.

LIGHT ANOMALY DURING CLAIRVOYANCE EVENING IN THE CHAPEL
The photo below was taken on Sunday 6th July 2025, during the museum’s first evening of clairvoyance hosted in Penuel Chapel. The image shows an audience seated in front of Stephen Cox and Gayle Carey, the special guests for the evening. After sharing these images on social media, Laura Rowton noticed a blue light over spirit artist Stephen Cox. When she zoomed in and looked more closely, the light appeared to be anomalous. It was smoke-like and did not appear (as you might expect) as a continuous ray of sunlight coming across Stephen’s body through one of the chapel’s windows. Instead, it seemed very much like an amorphous mist of energy that, oddly, seemed to have manifested between Stephen’s hands as he delivered a message from the other side.
FINGERPRINTS APPEAR INSIDE THE Gwyllgi GLASS CLOCHE
This video was taken after the Rowtons noticed a series of oily fingerprints on the inner surface of the glass cloche that they call the Gwyllgi. Associated with horrifying hellhound activity, the cloche was donated to the Rowtons by a young mother from West Wales. When they took possession of it, it was sealed with thick tape. It was on 16th October 2024, as Laura was displaying the item in the museum, that she first noticed the fingerprints. Thinking they were on the outside of the glass, and that either she or Erik were responsible, she attemtped to clean them away. It was then that she realised they were inside the sealed bell jar. The cloche has never been opened by the Rowtons. Comparison with earlier photos of the cloche show that the fingerprints were not there before this discovery. What is more, in the time since the fingerprints have disappeared.
FIRE ALARM GOES OFF BY ITSELF IN THE SÉANCE PARLOUR
Just before opening the museum on 3rd May 2025, the smoke alarm in the séance parlour started going off. Believing there was an emergency, the Rowtons rushed up the stairs. There was no fire… What made the incident all the stranger was that smoke alarms had been set off previously, both in the same room and elsewhere (the Ancestors’ Gallery and Schoolroom entrance) with no apparent cause. The Rowtons believe that one of the museum’s objects (the Broadmoor Walking Cane) was responsible, with the spirit connected to the cane, Victor, later confirming his nusiance act via a spirit board session.
PHOTOGRAPHIC ANOMALY REPORTED BY VISITORS IN THE PARANORMAL LABORATORY
A series of photographs were taken by daytime visitors to the museum, Gwen and Ryan. They were in the museum’s Paranormal Laboratory, looking at the haunted doll who resides in one of the observation cases. Upon looking back at the photos, they discovered that a strange, glitch-like anomaly had happened as one of the photos was taken.
